Beautification Day held at Mater Christi School
Thirty-eight people showed up on Aug. 16 for Beautification Day, an annual end-of-summer tradition at Mater Christi School. The group took on a variety of jobs such as weeding, painting classrooms and pavement lines, washing windows, trimming hedges and removing drywall.
The adults and children made the day even more meaningful by participating in the ALS Challenge, with John Carney getting doused with ice water. Several members of the Mater Christi School community have relatives and /or other friends suffering from ALS and are impressed at how wide spread this Challenge has become and are hoping – along with everyone else – that with the extra funding, a cure for this disease will be found soon.
Organizers of the MCS Beautification Day were Ting Shlansky and Angela DeSanctis.
In addition to those shown in the picture, the following volunteered their time and energy to preparing the school and grounds for the students whose first day of school was Aug. 26: Sarah Lavoie; Patrick, William, Mike and Sherry Sawyer; Deb Cardinal; Noel and Craig Boucher; Jack, Christy and JB Bahrenburg; Bill Embick; Karen and Bret Shabazz; Rob LeBlanc; Elisa Ferguson; Tim Collins; and Anna
